Field Crew Position: RODMAN

The rodman is required to load all needed equipment into the vehicles before heading

out to the various properties & projects. In addition, the rodman must have the ability to

clear, trim, cut any brush, trees, and/or vegetation away from the survey line as

needed. Also lay out stakes to prepare for horizontal & vertical measurements as

needed. The rodman may also assist the Crew Chief in holding the prism pole steady

to obtain accurate measurements and assist in various tasks as needed on a daily

basis.

 

Duties/ Requirements:

• Prepare access areas by digging and cutting/trimming as necessary or directed

by the Crew Chief

• Ability to work outdoors with long hours (up to 10-12 hours) and in all types of

inclement (hot, cold, rain) weather.

• Traverse difficult terrain at times.

• Ability to stand in wet terrain at times or for extended periods of time.

• Immerse waist deep in bodies of water.

• Ability to bend, stoop kneel, crawl and lift up to 50 lbs. routinely

• Ability to walk extensively and carry equipment/supplies in remote, rural, or urban

environments.

• Ability to withstand the outdoors and wildlife that may be encountered from time

to time. (i.e. snakes, various insects, and/or animals)
